Head of Business Development and Marketing

Reports to: CEO

Australia/USA based

Why you are here 

With your track record of building a team of business development professionals in the CRO industry in different geographic regions; and your strong network of pharma, biotech medical device companies, successful sales records, deep understanding of the market needs, you will be responsible for: 

  • Creating the Global Business Development Strategy along with the CEO 
  • Achieving the sales targets and managing the implementation of the Business Development strategy by recruiting, leading, coaching and developing the Sales Team
  • Establishing GreenLight Clinical as the CRO market leader and preferred partner

  • Ambitious short, medium and long-term business development strategies  
  • Achievement of the Sales target 
  • Expansion of the client base for GLC
  • A mature and successful business development team within GLC
  • A unique marketing position established for GLC through appropriate marketing messages and channels, as well as business development activities 
  • Excellent internal and client relationships

How we will measure it

  • Sales target met or exceeded within agreed budgets/costs, for both your individual target, and the total company target
  • Hight performing Business Development team that suits the company’s growth stage 
  • Team Member satisfaction measured through eNPS
  • Quality of relationships with and feedback from internal and external stakeholder 

What you are responsible for

  • Leading the creation and implementation of strategies to achieve consistent growth in new business opportunities in line with the company’s goals
  • Alignment of business development process and procedures to achieve the goals and business objectives of GLC
  • Bid and tender management by working closely with internal functionals and external parties
  • Development of the client network and the maintenance of good client relationship by supporting each function on important client communication 
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiations 
  • Development, maintenance and reporting of KPIs related to business development and marketing activities
  • Utilizing your strong business acumen in negotiating contracts, including change orders 
  • Hiring and developing business development professionals to ensure proper BD activities to support the growth of the company
  • Managing team administration e.g. Expenses and timesheets 
  • As a member of the senior leadership team for GLC, contributing to the overall company strategy and cultural development by working closely with other members of the senior leadership team  
  • Forging excellent internal relationships 

Qualifications

  • Life sciences Graduate with post graduate qualifications (desirable) or Business /marketing degree with significant knowledge and experiences in the life science research industry 
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and relevant industry experience
  • Formal management qualification (desirable)

Work experience

  • Proven successful track record of CRO business development in complex & sophisticated markets
  • Experience in training/key accounts desirable
  • International experience is essential

Technical knowledge & skills or other requirements

  • Driven and results oriented, self-motivated leader with the ability to drive employee engagement
  • A team player with excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical, biotech clinical research industry 
  • Global business management leadership, high level strategy development, analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to adapt to change and use initiative, appreciation of cultural differences 
  • Training skills; coaching & directing performance 
  • IT literate; Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Salesforce
  • Excellent Presentation & communication kills
