Project Director

Reports to: Head Project Management & GxP System Application US and Asia-Pacific

You will supervise and oversee the US Project Management Team. Working closely with senior leaders, you will create a high-performance, collaborative culture within the Project Management function, ensuring teams are fully engaged to meet GreenLight Clinical (GLC) strategic goals. You are able to identify, attract, develop, and retain key talent. You will delight our customers with full engagement and collaboration during the entire study life cycle. Stakeholder engagement and problem-solving come naturally to you.

What you will deliver

  • Project delivery:  quality, timeline budget per contract, and company KPIs
  • Development of a high performing, engaged, and motivated team of Project Managers capable of exceeding customer expectations by delivering complex, full-service projects, according to SOPs, Good Clinical Practice(s), and International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines, working closely with the Head of Project Management in alignment with company strategy and culture
  • Provide leadership to key projects/clients, strong client and (internal/external) stakeholder partnerships, supporting the Head of Project Management
  • Close financial oversight of the GLC US Project Management function
  • Lead Project Management initiatives that improve quality and productivity, and ultimately lead to higher customer satisfaction
  • Timely and high-quality input into business development initiatives, including but not limited to RFI, RFP and bid defence meetings, represent GLC at key scientific conferences
  • Contribution to business growth based on defined KPIs
  • Organizational development based on business needs and industry trends
  • Collaborative, caring and engaging culture, mentoring Project Managers and providing support and guidance in everything they do to drive high retention

How we will measure it

  • Project deliverables including quality, timeline and budgetary related KPIs; inspection readiness of projects and responsible functions
  • Timely and appropriate reporting of project and functional KPIs via formal monthly project reviews, and timely escalation of critical project issues to GLC Head of Project Management
  • Cross-functional collaboration based on stakeholder feedback, both internally and externally
  • Contribution to business growth measured via KPIs for new business opportunities and positive client engagement leading to repeat business
  • Employee engagement with the responsible function/regions, timely individual development plans for staff and ongoing career development discussions, and retention of high performing Project Managers

What you are responsible for

  • Timely delivery of client projects/programs, focusing on timelines, quality, profitability, preventative risk management, and mitigation and client satisfaction   
  • Providing project oversight and governance at project and/or account level to build strong client relationships and close collaboration with internal stakeholders, ensure proper project issue management; forecast and identify opportunities to accelerate project revenue
  • Providing day-to-day leadership of project management team in US; including resource planning and management; ensuring the right talent is in place at the right time through hiring and retaining key talents, mentoring, coaching, and developing team members, ensuring individual development plans are in place for all direct reports
  • Identify the changes in scope and manage change control process as necessary, identify opportunities to increase scope to assist customer’s business needs
  • May serve as a project director for clinical trials, oversees large, diverse, multi-country project operations to ensure trials are performed on schedule, within budget, to meet all quality and regulatory requirements
  • Appraising staff performance and guiding professional development, provide effective and timely consultation/guidance to staff to resolve project issues
  • Driving company-wide best practices for efficient project execution, organizing and driving cross-functional project overview meeting through a comprehensive analysis of project performance and reporting  
  • Acting as a champion or change agent to drive continuous improvement and quality culture by continuous assessment of internal processes, listening to external and internal feedback, understanding industry trends, and development of regulatory requirements
  • Providing high quality and timely input to proposals, presentations, scope, budgetary estimations, and participating in bid defence meetings to contribute to new project acquisition; promoting GLC within the industry by developing and writing professional articles, white papers and speaking at conferences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical/life sciences (pharmacist, nursing, physician), graduate degree preferred

Work experience

  • Minimum 15 years of clinical research related experience in a bio/pharmaceutical or CRO environment, or medical device industry; including a minimum of 10 years experience with hands-on clinical research project management experience
  • Demonstrated line management experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Therapeutic area: oncology or ophthalmology preferable
  • 5 + years of management experience in a regional or global matrixed CRO, experience with project governance, business growth, and organization development

Technical knowledge & skills or other requirements

  • Excellent understanding of the industry trends and applicable regulations for clinical trials for drug and/or device development
  • Outstanding leadership, excellent communication, and planning, problem-solving skills, ability to see the big picture yet has the attention to detail
  • Excellent project management skills and stakeholder, client relationship management experiences/skills
  • Experience with change management
  • International experience preferred
  • Travel as needed
